I’m so happy to share the 10 Best Keto Recipes of 2017 with you! Switching your fuel source from carbs to fat has benefits for just about everyone, and that’s why this diet has been so helpful to me. I started the Keto Diet on June 3, 2014. I remember that date because it changed my life. Eating low-carb, high-fat (LCHF) has helped me live much better with a multiple sclerosis diagnosis.

What is the Keto Diet?

The Ketogenic Diet is the original low-carb diet and is commonly used to treat epilepsy. With this low-carb, high-fat diet, the majority of calories come from fat, while moderate amounts of protein and very low amounts of carbohydrates are consumed. Following a high-fat diet adapts the body to burning fat rather than carbohydrates. Doing so can have tremendous health benefits such as reducing inflammation and much more. These recipes are so simple that the easiest one has 2 ingredients, while the most challenging has only 9 ingredients total. I have a silly question though! Why do magazines and recipe creators say that a dish contains only 4 ingredients when it contains 7? Do salt, pepper, and olive oil not count as ingredients? In my recipes they do.

  1. I am new to your website and recipes. Can you tell me a substitute for “egg white protein powder” as I cannot find it in our small Saskatchewan city? Looking forward to trying your recipes.

    • Diane, I haven’t tried making my recipes without egg white protein powder when called for so not sure what to substitute for that. Feel free to experiment, or if you click the green text in the ingredients portion of the recipe that say “egg white protein powder” you can order it online, that’s what I do :-)

  2. Elana are you really feeling better eating keto? I have celiac and was grain free for years. Then did keto/primal for 2 years and initially I felt better, lost weight, re-set my body. But then I started feeling like all the animal protein was slowing my body down and I was becoming too acidic? I missed fruits and starchy veggies. I was tired of watching my carbs so much, especially with real unprocessed food. So now I’m in the midst of trying to figure out what will work for my body. It seems to me that most cultures in the Blue Zone are more plant based and eat more of a variety of foods. Where are you in your journey?

    • Betty, same here. I “cheat” on my keto diet with some green juices and extra salads and feel really good that way. I don’t eat fruit often (other than berries very infrequently) and I don’t eat starchy veggies :-)

  5. I´ve lost count of how many times I´ve forwarded your 2 ingredient chocolate pudding recipe!! It is so good and easy to make… I have some in my fridge all the time and I´ve suggested to all my friends to do the same… I haven´t succeeded with the paleo bread… yet… it is too dense for me… but I want to try the bagels soon..

  7. I have your Paleo book and Almond flour book- love them both! I’ve been wondering if you are working on a keto book with easy and yummy high fat low carb recipes!
