My boys are big fans of this easy ketogenic recipe. I’ve been making it since they were little. The combination of strawberries with a zing of lime is totally amazing. Here’s the recipe so you can make your own!
Keto Strawberry Lime Smoothie
Ingredients
- 1 can full fat coconut milk
- 8 ounces frozen strawberries
- ¼ cup egg white protein powder
- 2 tablespoons MCT oil
- 1 tablespoon lime juice, freshly squeezed
- 1 tablespoon sunflower lecithin powder
- ¼ teaspoon stevia
Instructions
- Place all ingredients in a vitamix and puree on high speed until smooth
- Serve
Equipment
I use MCT oil in my Keto Strawberry Lime Smoothie recipe because it can raise blood levels of ketones which are a fantastic clean burning source of fuel for the brain. Among other things, ketones can reduce brain inflammation and increase production of brain derived neurotropic factor (BDNF).
Sunflower lecithin is another ingredient that is key to brain health. Lecithin contains phosphatidylcholine, a phospholipid that helps digest and breakdown fat. Phospholipids help fat cross the barrier of the cell membrane in order to get into the cell. If you’re not into the biochemistry of lipid metabolism, I can tell you in short, that a Keto Diet works very well for me, but even better when I use special brain-boosting ingredients like MCT oil and sunflower lecithin.

Hello Elana,
Can you share why you use egg white protein powder specifically?
Elana says
Hi Shirley, I use egg white protein powder because that is what I best digest :-)
Donna T says
Elena, are you aware this pet is chemically altered with acetone???? As they stated, it’s not the best pdt, but at least non GMO. ????
Elana says
Hi Donna, thanks so much for your comment. I’m not sure what you are referring to, but hope you’ll stop back by to clarify :-)
Barbara says
Thanks!
I used bananas, strawberries, almond/coconut milk and key lime with a little honey, chis seeds and coconut oil. A nice refreshing afternoon treat!
Elana says
Thanks Barbara! I’m so happy to hear that you enjoyed this :-)
Tiadots says
can i add protein powder to this as a breakfast smoothie?
Breakfast is my most challenging meal as a paleo eater, since I’m at my laziest.
Thanks!
Elana says
Tiadots, yes! We do that often :-)
Stephanie says
Can Almond milk be used instead of Coconut milk for this recipe?

I was very excited to hear the review on KCBS (Narsai David) about your book and rushed to my computer to order it from Amazon. Who would think that, living in Berkeley, CA, I would not be able to find almond flour! Whole Foods, Berkeley Bowl, Safeway, TJ’s, Ashby Market and Andronico’s only carry Bob’s if they carry specialty flour at all. The internet to the rescue! Ordered it from Honeyville and am looking forward to its arrival so I can get started on the exciting recipes in your book.

Thanks Dani! Here’s a link to the brands that I’ve tested so that you’ll know they will work in my recipes:

Yummy! I can’t wait to try this recipe. Fresh strawberries are just coming into season here, so I will use those instead of frozen. This should help me kick my craving for ice cream (at least until I have time to make some that’s dairy free)!
Elana says
Thanks Benita!
Katy says
This sounds delicious; I’m going to try it tomorrow. Don’t forget to use organic strawberries–conventionally grown strawberries are No. 6 on the Environmental Working Group’s list of the 12 most pesticide-laden fruits and veggies!
Elana says
Katy, agreed!

This is lovely (and such a pretty color!). I like the addition of lime juice as sometimes fruit smoothies are too sweet for me.
Our favorite smoothie right now is coconut milk, banana and mango. Yummy!

Thanks Kimi!
