Ingredients
- 2 ounces tequila
- 16 ounces sparkling water
- 1 packet grapefruit LMNT
- 1 grapefruit wedge
- 2 cups ice
Instructions
- Gently stir tequila, sparkling water, and LMNT in a large glass

If you’re wondering, what are electrolytes good for I’m here to help. According to Paleo pioneer, Robb Wolf, hydrating with electrolytes is common sense. He states:
“Drinking electrolytes along with water replaces what’s lost through sweat, urine, and respiration.”
He goes on to say that the issue with most of the electrolytes available on the market today is quality. The majority, think Gatorade, are filled with sugar and artificial chemicals that we don’t want in our bodies. This inspired Wolf to create LMNT electrolytes.

According to Wolf, “Electrolytes are charged minerals that conduct electricity to power your nervous system and balance fluids inside and outside your cells.”

Dehydration Headache and Other Symptoms
When I started drinking sugar free electrolytes and improved my sodium levels, I stopped getting migraines or headaches and my sluggish bowel motility improved. I also felt more alert cognitively.

While I’m usually pretty good about hydrating at home (New Mexico), when I’m away from home and at the mercy of hotels or friend’s/family’s filtration systems it gets trickier. I am currently visiting my mother in Florida, and the water *tastes* toxic. It might not be, but I am not taking chances. Instead, I am buying gallons of filtered water for the house, which I hate to do because it all comes in plastic down here. Suggestions for alternatives are welcomed!

This home LOVES LMNT. I do make my own blend of electrolytes for twice daily use, but being a KetoGainer and having a neuro issue I often succumb to what feels like a heart attack– and LMNT is literally an instant life-saver. Outside of the above mentioned homemade electrolytes (in a total of 2 quarts of filtered water), I usually drink another quart of lemon water. These are hydrating. I also drink about another 2 quarts daily of a mix of coffee, tea, La Croix, and sometimes Zevia.

I consume mainly water as my source of hydration; I enjoy it cold in the summer months and room temperature the rest of the year. I also like to make our family’s version of “pop” whereby I add a small amount of (unsweetened) juice to a glass of Perrier. I also make and keep on hand lemonade with Stevia, inspired by you, Elana.

I’m ashamed to say that I don’t drink water very often. I just don’t like it. I drink diet coke almost exclusively, but I’m trying to drink more iced tea. I do make electrolytes mix for my husband. Great post, thanks for explaining ranch water!

I start the day drinking at least 12-16 oz of water. Then I fill a 64 oz jug with water and add fresh lemon, lime or orange juice to it. I find I need flavor in my water to drink it throughout the day. I’ve started to add a couple pinches of salt.
