Amy Jean says
I know you do not like changing your recipes, bc they are tested so many times, but is there a possibility to use 1 cup flax meal & 1 cup almond flour?
Elana says
Amy, I haven’t tried that, but I don’t think it will work :-)
Beth H says
Hi, I have golden flaxmeal, can that be interchanged for the black flaxmeal?
I have issues with almond flour, so hoping that I can try this.
Thank you in advance
Elana says
Beth, I haven’t tried that so not sure –if you do I hope you’ll let me know if it works!
Emily says
I made this recipe with golden flax and it turned out great!
Elana says
Thanks Emily!
Barbara says
I love this bread! I’ve made it several times – I top it with a sprinkling of Everything Bagel seasoning. I’ve even given loaves to friends and family and everyone loves it. So great to have a gluten free NUT FREE option that actually tastes like bread, and feels like bread. This is akin to a dark pumpernickle IMO. Thank you Elana! I’ve tried many of your recipes and love them all.
Elana says
Barbara, thanks for your comment and for letting me know everyone loves this bread!
Heidi says
Elana, this flax bread is DELICIOUS!!! I am someone who had to avoid grain carbs for quite a while, due to pre-diabetes, so breads were a very rare treat. When I was recently diagnosed with kidney stones, I had to adopt a low oxalate nutrition plan. Flax bread fits perfectly! I made this bread today. It was completely easy to make, and an absolute pleasure to eat. I encrusted the top of the loaf with unsalted sunflower seeds. I am very thankful for having found your wonderful recipe. Thank you for sharing it!
Elana says
Heidi, I’m so glad this is DELICIOUS and am also happy to hear it’s helping you stick to your nutrition plan :-)
Heather W. says
We LOVE this recipe used as our bagels. We mix it all, add 1 cup of water, remix, and fill 12 silicone doughnut molds. I sprinkle some with Everything Bagel spice and bake at 350 for 40 minutes.
Elana says
Heather, what a great idea!
Laurie says
Heather I would love to try this as bagels do you use an additional cup of water?
Laurie says
Would this be an additional cup of water to the 1/2 cup in the recipe?
Nina Gilmour says
Hi there, I’m making your nut-free keto bread and the consistency is quite wet. Is that right? Thanks!
Elana says
Nina, that sounds about right :-)
Bonnie says
Have you tried chia eggs instead of chicken eggs? I can’t have egg white.
Elana says
Bonnie, I haven’t tried that :-)
Barbara says
Hi Elana,
I just tried the nut free keto bread recipe and it came out great. I was looking for the nutrition information and followed your link to the cookbooks but only found the paleo version which has sugar according to the nutrition info. Do you have different NI for the keto version?
Thank you!
Barbara
Elana says
Barbara, I provide nutrition info for all of the recipes in my cookbooks :-)
Bernie says
Can we use golden flax instead..of brown?
Elana says
Bernie, I think it will work but not really sure since I haven’t tried that :-)
Brad Richards says
We only use the golden flaxseed and it comes out great! Trader Joes sells bags of toasted golden flaxseeds, and it adds a nice mild nutty flavor. Grinding them is easy in a bullet or ninja or blender. Great recipe, Elana!
Elana says
Thanks Brad!
Yael says
Hi,
Can you freeze this bread (I’m thinking sliced and pulling it for toast)?
Elana says
Yael, I haven’t tried that with this bread but I’m betting it would work :-)
