I created this easy Mint Chocolate Chip Keto Fat Bombs recipe a decade ago when the term fat bomb didn’t exist, and being in ketosis wasn’t such a big deal.
Back then, the Keto Diet was practically unheard of unless you were receiving it as a treatment for pediatric epilepsy at Johns Hopkins.
So let’s get started. First, what are keto fat bombs? Fat bombs are small bite-sized snacks made of fatty foods that help you burn fat for fuel and stay in ketosis.
This recipe for ketogenic fat bombs is full of healthy fat and has seven ingredients total –coconut oil, coconut butter, macadamia butter, peppermint, dark chocolate, stevia, and salt.
We love Mint Chocolate Chip Keto Fat Bombs because they’re so tasty. These no-bake fat bombs fill us with fat, rather than carbs which turn into glucose. Check out Intermittent Fasting for Beginners to understand the benefits of burning fat for fuel, and learn how the Keto Diet fools your body into thinking it’s fasting.
I’m often asked, “are fat bombs vegan?” That can go either way. This is a keto vegan fat bomb recipe since they’re made of coconut oil and nut butter, rather than the usual ghee or butter. My plant-based ingredients are perfect for vegan keto fat bombs, which in turn are dairy-free keto fat bombs.
If you’re looking for keto fat bombs using stevia this is the recipe for you! Most keto fat bomb recipes use erythritol, a corn-based sugar substitute that I cannot digest –for more on that see What’s the Best Sweetener for the Keto Diet. I based this Mint Chocolate Chip Keto Fat Bombs recipe on one by Diane Sanfillipo, removing the sweetener and making other changes.
If you’re looking for a keto fat bombs recipe with no chocolate, go ahead and make these without the chocolate chips. You’ll have a wonderful mint fat bomb.
Readers are always asking me for Nutrition Information. I provide it for the recipes in my New York Times best selling book, Paleo Cooking from Elana’s Pantry, it’s perfect for keto!
Another great keto staple? My best ever Keto Brownies. I’ve made this keto dessert recipe hundreds of times and my family still loves it. No one can resist the smell of freshly baked brownies filling their home.
I have tons of other Sugar-Free Dessert Recipes as well!
I love healing with functional foods, and that’s exactly what my Keto Ginger Hot Chocolate achieves. This low-carb keto hot chocolate is one of my best creations yet!
So now you know how to make fat bombs and have loads of other information on living low-carb as well! My Mint Chip Keto Fat Bombs make a fantastic keto snack, breakfast on the go, or post-workout snack.

Hej madbandit ? Vh Christina
Hi Annie, thanks for your awesome comment! I’m so happy that my recipes are inspiring you :-)
Dear Elana,
I have been following your blog for years. Your simple, nutritious recipes have helped me survive college and now graduate school. Have you ever made Borsht by any chance? My parents are Russian and as a child, I loved having beetroot soup with a generous dollop of sour cream!
xx Stephanie
Stephanie, thanks for your darling comment! I will add Borsht to my list of recipe requests. I’m so happy to hear that my simple, nutritious recipes are helping to get you through school :-)
Do you have the carb count per bomb? thank you

Have a lovely day!

I am wondering if you could substitute erythritol in this recipe? If so, would it be the same ratios? I’m asking because stevia has an aftertaste that I don’t care for.
Celestial, I haven’t tried that so not sure :-)
I would love to make these, they look amazing, but I am trying to avoid sugar and the chocolate chips contain cane sugar. Does anyone make sugar free chips to substitute?
Valerie, thanks for your comment! Here’s a link to my Homemade Chocolate recipe:

I haven’t tried it in this recipe so not sure it will work, but it might be worth a go!

Lilly’s chocolate is great! My Daughter is a type 1 diabetic and she can eat this. I have found Lilly’s bars in Publix and the chips in our health food stores. Earth Origin and Earth Fare in Ocala, Fl. Hope this helps!
Thanks Deborah!
Hi Valerie. I love these sugar free chocolate chips:

Elana, can’t wait to try these delicious fat bombs!!
Thanks Kathy! Just a quick note to other readers, the chocolate chips linked above are not recommended as they contain corn and are not grain-free; further they contain sugar alcohols which are very difficult to digest for people with celiac, gut dysbiosis, and various autoimmune disorders. That said, I’ve heard from a number of readers who do perfectly well with corn and sugar alcohols and my husband can digest this type of sweetener easily :-)
I just made these and they taste amazing! I love mint and chocolate together! These truffles have a great texture and mouthfeel and are super-rich and super-satisfying for a sweet craving.
Thanks Glyn! Glad to hear these were amazing :-)
Yum these look delicious I am definitely making these tonight. Just need to buy a few ingredients which I have been meaning to get for a ages now but have been too lazy!
Thanks Sia!
I just made these tonight and they were delicious. They really tasted like chocolate to me — they have the creaminess and richness of chocolate. Before freezing them, they were like chocolate chip cookie dough. I’m so happy to have a “treat” that is really satisfying and grain-free and sugar-free.
I actually used a few drops of stevia with no other sweetener in my truffles, and they turned out delicious. I also used almond butter, because it’s what I had. I also used Baker’s unsweetened chocolate cut into little slivers to mix in.
Laura, thanks for letting me know these were delicious :-)
Only one thing to say “Food of the Gods”. Nobody can match you Elana.
That is so sweet Joan! Thanks!
