My Homemade Ranch Dressing has only 5 ingredients and is easy to make. Simply combine mayonnaise, lemon juice, garlic, scallions, and salt in a jar, shake, and serve. Buttermilk is typically the base of ranch dressing, however, I’ve omitted that ingredient and created this entirely new and innovative dairy-free ranch dressing recipe.
We like to use this healthy salad dressing as a dip for vegetables, and as a condiment on sandwiches. Homemade Ranch Dressing is also incredible on my homemade Cobb Salad.
Homemade Ranch Dressing
- ½ cup primal kitchen mayo
- 2 tablespoon freshly squeezed lemon juice
- 1 clove garlic, pressed
- ¼ teaspoon minced scallion
- 1 pinch celtic sea salt
- Combine all ingredients in a small mason jar
- Shake vigorously until well combined
- Serve over salad, or use as a dip
I recently was honored to be featured on Paige Orloff’s Sisterhood Project website as one of her favorite foodie blogs. Paige moved from LA to Upstate New York a couple of years ago and is a fantastic and inspiring writer. I also want to thank one of my favorite readers, Shirley of Gluten Free Easily, for bestowing the Primio Dardo award upon me. Shirley never ceases to impress me with her great website, upbeat attitude, commitment to gluten-free living, and motor cycle riding.
Here are some of my other healthy salad dressing and condiment recipes:
Just wanted to say thanks for such a quick and tasty recipe. But also wanted to say that I figured out another version that reminds me of what you get in restaurants.
Just replace the lemon with dill pickle juice and swap out the chive for parsley. Keep the rest of the recipe as is.
I get Grillo’s Pickles classic dill pickles, found in the refrigerated grocery section. They’re SCD legal (as far as I know) and taste delicious.
Joshua, that is fantastic!
I just made this! So yummy! Went perfectly with celery and satisfied my ranch craving that I’ve been having for weeks! Thank you thank you thank you!
Molly, thanks for letting me know this dressing is so yummy :-)

Vegenaise makes one that is soy free. It has a light green lid. I buy it all the time at WF.
This looks wonderful! Looking for something to try this weekend.
I just found this recipe, made it and poured it over salad. I want to kiss you right now. A big garlicky ranch kiss. Thank you Elana!
