Nutrition Information for Website Recipes
Over the years some readers have been concerned that I haven’t provided nutrition information for the recipes here on the website. I was a bit surprised when I received the comment below regarding the 1,000 free low-carb recipes I provide here.
Yes, we know you do not answer nutrition questions, but it would be helpful, useful, and simply kind if you would simply supply this information with the recipes you provide. Organic Valley egg nog has 180 cal. and 10 g fat, while Living Without vegan egg nog has 366 calories, 33g total fat, per serving! And Elana’s recipe? God alone knows. Elana– this seems a bit of a grinch like policy on your part.
Juggling My Way Through Life
I’m not a big corporation. I’m a mom with celiac disease, multiple sclerosis, two children, and a husband. Just like all of you, I’m juggling my way through life every single day.
Free Low-Carb Recipes on Elana’s Pantry
I have a thousand free-recipes here to share with you because it makes me happy. Sitting with spreadsheets and calculators? That does not make me happy. That’s what I used to do that when I owned a big company back in 1995. I was 28 years old. I had lots of employees. I was in Fortune Magazine. I made loads of money. More than I do writing books. But writing books is fun. So I traded in my power suit and now I write low-carb power bar recipes.

Yeah! Get ’em girl! I love your blog, love your cookbooks, and I use them all the time. I have no allergies or intolerances that I am aware of, but my husband and I do try to eat healthy as our natural doctor recommends. Your recipes always fit into what we can eat. You are a godsend to so many people, keep up the good work! We love you!

I love that there is no nutritional info with your recipes. It’s refreshing! Intuitive eating is where it’s at, in my opinion. :)
Not to mention that your blog is a place to write anything you please, and there are many many many of us who absolutely relish every word (and bite of each recipe we try!).

Elana- I can’t believe the nerve of people sometimes. I have a food blog of my own, and when I get those emails, like the one you quoted… I just delete. No need for the negative energy. No need for name calling. Just soak up all of the compliments, because you are an amazing and wonderful person, mother, wife and blogger. and p.s. I think we could all learn a lot from the lack of the nutritional value column! Much love to you- Stephanie

You matter. I have never commented before but had to tell you that you matter. I so appreciate your recipes sans nutritional info. I know enough about good food that I never worry about calories or nutritional info when made well. You rock, you matter to so many people — thank you! Why does it take negetavity to stand up for goodness! Your blog is the one thing I look at everyday, and I’m working mom trying to love and let live! Thanks again for being such a positive force in my life!

You go, Elana!! I have always had GI problems but never knew what it was– then I cut out wheat. Voila! Perfectly fine now. I may have Celiac, or I may just have an intolerance. Whatever it is, your almond flour cookbook and blog have helped me so much and I’m so grateful. I thank you, and admire your guts.

I love your blog, I love you. I can’t stand interwebnet trolls, they’re cowards. I have Type I diabetes and I’m on an insulin pump…changed my life…www.myomnipod.com. I’ve been vegan/raw for 6 months and I’m off all my hypertension, statin, depression, hormone therapy meds. My endocrinologist wants me to talk with his patients that are ready for a change. I take 50% less insulin than I used to. People like you have infused vitality and LIFE into me, so keep it up sister, and kiss off the haters. Oh, and I’m 6′ tall 48 years old and have lost all my weight and I’m marching around in size 8 jeans, the icing on the cake :)

Thank-you. Your recipes help many people feed their families more nutritious foods. We don’t need nutrition information because we know they’re using healthy ingredients, not a bunch of processed garbage. Job well done and keep ‘um coming.

Well put. Thanks for all the recipes you share. I don’t believe most of your blog followers would even look at the “nutrition” information.
I’d much rather you keep doing what you love and keep sharing. Your recipes-online and in your cookbooks- have worked very well for us. My fast food eating husband even enjoys your recipes. Your food has been helping me heal from years of malnutrition and deal with the extra curve ball of a dairy sensitive son.

Wow! I love this! I love your books (I buy them), and you blog, and your recipes! I am a ski patroller at Vail for the lifestyle, a green cleaning lady on the side to make ends meet, and currently in school in boulder for holistic nutrition. I NEVER count ANYTHING, don’t make my clients count things either…why stress yourself out, eat wholesome, REAL food, and ENJOY EVERY BITE of it:)
