Nutrition Information for Website Recipes
Over the years some readers have been concerned that I haven’t provided nutrition information for the recipes here on the website. I was a bit surprised when I received the comment below regarding the 1,000 free low-carb recipes I provide here.
Yes, we know you do not answer nutrition questions, but it would be helpful, useful, and simply kind if you would simply supply this information with the recipes you provide. Organic Valley egg nog has 180 cal. and 10 g fat, while Living Without vegan egg nog has 366 calories, 33g total fat, per serving! And Elana’s recipe? God alone knows. Elana– this seems a bit of a grinch like policy on your part.
Juggling My Way Through Life
I’m not a big corporation. I’m a mom with celiac disease, multiple sclerosis, two children, and a husband. Just like all of you, I’m juggling my way through life every single day.
Free Low-Carb Recipes on Elana’s Pantry
I have a thousand free-recipes here to share with you because it makes me happy. Sitting with spreadsheets and calculators? That does not make me happy. That’s what I used to do that when I owned a big company back in 1995. I was 28 years old. I had lots of employees. I was in Fortune Magazine. I made loads of money. More than I do writing books. But writing books is fun. So I traded in my power suit and now I write low-carb power bar recipes.
Nutrition Information from My Amazing Readers
If you check out My Fitness Pal you will find the nutrition information for the recipes from my website. My fabulous readers have done the work for you using that fantastic nutrition calculator!

I find the comment this person left just appalling. Easy to leave a snarky remark when typing behind a keyboard. Not to mention the complete lack of compassion and respect for a mom, author and hard working lady sharing her wisdom and gifts of baking and cooking with the rest of us…sheesh…I truly hope you let that comment drip off your shoulder….because it is an empty, negative, hate filled comment….you deserve better and frankly..you’ve opened up my world with better eating and weight loss…..so deeply grateful for your site and words of positivity and kindness. Thank you and upwards and onwards Elana!! :) Radison
Elana says
Radison, the great news is that I am blessed with so many incredible readers like you that come to my website! Less than 1 in 1,000 comments here are of the “challenging” type like that one. Thanks for your kind heart and wonderful words :-)

Elana, I’ve been following your recipes for years. Thank you for these gifts! As I find myself migrating over to a keto diet because of my health, I felt less nervous because I knew you follow it as well. This morning I’m making your keto brownies and I’m so excited. I have to tell you that I love you even more after reading your piece about nutrition info. I could never deal with doing that either. It would make all of this not fun. I’m so psyched you’ve held your space, made me laugh and done both with heart and honesty. All the best to you!
Jessica

Elana,
I’m so grateful to have found your blog and own your books, they’ve been a mainstay in my cooking and baking repertoire. Eating clean does not mean it needs to be boring, and it’s actually more delicious than the SAD.
I’m so thankful for all you do, it’s refreshing to read your blog and your personal stories. Your outlook on life is one I look up to, thanks again for the inspiration.
Best
Miriam

Elana,
i’ll be bookmarking your site. Found it looking for a cracker recipe that i could use with my chicken salad as i’m new to low carb. Simple, Free I’ll try it tomorrow. Did i Mention free…and given from your generosity. I am very grateful to have found this site. Thank you! I counted and i have 85 cookbooks in my house, there is not a nutritional analysis in the bunch. The poster of the entitled, must have everything handed to me comment is a total snot biscuit and I hope they gain 5 pounds. You are more gracious than I – obviously. Everyone’s a critic for no reason. thank you again for all the free recipes and good luck in all.
Elana says
Peggy, thanks so much for your comment and gratitude! I hope you have an amazing day :-)
Dena Gershkovich says
I love this! Your response to this comment is so honest and reasonable, because honestly, who wants to spend life with a pocket-sized calculator, adding up every crumb that’s consumed? It’s a pain and it’s also not a sustainable way to eat long-term. I am a dietetics major, and friends often ask me how many calories foods contain. My response: “Calories count, but don’t count calories.” I believe that, through focusing on eating clean, healthy foods (and making recipes like the ones you’re promoting on your site) the calories work themselves out. I think that consuming “clean” ingredients is a more important, reasonable and healthier goal than counting calories.
Elana says
Thanks Dena!
Joy Moller says
Hi there Elana,
Thank you for your perfect reply to this ridiculously self-entitled complaint. Really, such people ought to get off their lazy bottoms, find the nutritional info themselves and do something nice like share it with others.
We are tremendously grateful for your generosity and hard work. Your recipes are so considered – they are simply outstanding. I can’t believe how fortunate we are to have your blog.
Kind Regards,
Joy

Hi Elana
I have been wanting to try recipes like this for a while now but was worried about how they would turn out and whether or not the people sharing the recipe actually knew what they were talking about. I came across your site in “Yummly” and after perusing the recipes, reading comments and your history, I believe I have finally found what I am looking for! I haven’t tried anything yet but believe me I will be! And I will also be passing this site along to a few of my family members who are trying to establish a more healthy way of eating.
I know that you don’t provide nutritional information and I sure don’t blame you. That is not a fun part of cooking/baking, and there are more important things in life. Fortunately, for all those that want to learn the exact nutritional value and calories, there are many, many apps out there now that will do it for them. The easiest one is, of course, “My Fitness Pal”, which i have used many times for this reason. I think the simple fact that you want to share all these recipes with as many people as possible is great, and if there are people out there that can’t appreciate it, well, that’s their problem. Having taken a nutrition course, I think looking at these recipes that you don’t need to necessarily count macro or micro nutrients. I mean, you can’t go nuts of course but it seems simple and healthy!!
Thank you for sharing your experience and knowledge, and I can’t wait to try some of these! And I’m not telling my family when i do so that they give it a chance!
Elana says
Thanks for your wonderful comment Sheri! It’s so nice to meet you here :-)

Hi Elana,
I wanted to write to you to express my gratitude for your recipes and caring. I want also to wish you rafuah shlema for full recovery of your health and for a long life filled with many blessings.
As a fairly active and healthy man in my late 50’s I had a couple of bad breaks with health, starting with a serious case of lyme disease in early 2013, and then a 20-month long descent into debilitating chronic sinus infections involving MRSA and requiring a 3 hour surgery.
After that, I needed a dramatic turn around and read Dr. Steven Gundry’s book, The Diet Evolution. Dr. Gundry, a cardio-thoracic surgeon, advocates elimination wheat and added sugar from our diet. I started his program and saw dramatic and immediate improvements due to this lifestyle change.
I discovered your website while looking for bread alternatives and started with the various almond flour bread recipes. Once I began to understand the principles behind this type of cooking, I was inspired to branch out. When I added my own low carb maple-peanut butter chocolate fudge topping to the chocolate zucchini bread, a minor riot ensued!
With your and Dr. Gundry’s inspiration, I am now a confirmed low carb wheat free person, and my health has improved tremendously.
Thank you for your generosity and kindness. You are a guiding light to those of us seeking a healthier way of living.
Sincerely,
Jeff K
