Today while I was in the kitchen working on some experimental recipes, I decided to make cocktails for my younger son and myself.
I pulled out two large tumblers and asked my little guy to grab a bottle of sparkling water from the dining room. He came back with the requested water and “fancy” glasses, wanting me to make our beverages a little more upscale. Of course, I obliged.
Orange Fizzie Cocktail
Ingredients
- 3 ice cubes
- 6 ounces sparkling water
- 2 ounces fresh squeezed orange juice
Instructions
- Place ice cubes in glass
- Pour sparkling water over ice cubes
- Top with orange juice
- Garnish with fresh fruit if desired
Full credit for this photo goes to my younger son. While I was in my office (our former laundry room, it’s just off the kitchen), he commandeered my camera and set up this photo shoot, organizing the backgrounds, etc. He is 9 years old and I wish I could take a picture that is as good as his. He is quite the artist and does amazing drawings and water colors.
Here is a message from my little sweetie, “I’m glad to be able to take pictures on my mom’s website.” My older son’s baseball tournament continues and we’re off to see tonight’s game!

Being gluten and wheat intolerant, I love your website and your recipes and have pre-ordered your new book. I have a suggestion about your emails. It would be SO helpful if instead of making the subject line of each email say “Elana’s Pantry” to actually have the name of the recipe you are recommending in the subject line of your emails. In that way, when I want to find a specific recipe that you have sent, I can find it simply by looking at the subject line instead of needing to open each email to try to find the one I am looking for. My old email program allowed me to change subject lines, but unfortunately the email program I now use does not. So I hope you will consider my suggestion.

Thank you so much for implementing my request!! Now I can see at a glance what recipe is included in each email. So VERY helpful.

What a talented young man! Lovely photo.
I was wondering what your recipe for a “cocktail” was going to be… sounds like my kind of drink!
Hope they win their game!

It’s so nice that your kids get to help – when my niece visited me earlier this summer she took pics for my blog. She was so very proud of herself. It felt good to see her so happy.
