My boys and I are very into salads right now. And It’s my job to change it up with different and fun salad dressings to keep them interested. The scrumptious salad above is 100% from my garden. It includes a variety of lettuces, dino kale, tomatoes and cucumbers. I love sending the boys out to “pick” a dish that we will be having for dinner, and it’s great to hang out in the kitchen with them while they wash and chop the vegetables.
I find that gluten free salad dressings that have a little bit of tang and sweetness keep the boys interested in their veggies. Here’s one of our favorites.

Did you know that today, September 13th, is Celiac Awareness Day? It is also the date of Samuel Gee’s birthday. Samuel Gee is credited with being the first person to find a link between Celiac Disease and diet. He once said “if the patient can be cured at all, it must be by means of diet.”
In honor of Celiac Awareness Day I’ll be doing a book signing at the Whole Foods on Pearl Street in Boulder from 4:30-6:30pm tonight, September 13th. Hope to see you there!

I just want to say that I found your blog a few months ago, and I absolutely LOVE it. It’s been such an inspiration to me in the kitchen. I’m still fairly new at the completely gluten-free, dairy-free, (and in most cases) sugar-free lifestyle…I’m a college student surrounded by friends who get to eat whatever they want (something I’ve never been able to do) and it’s been a fairly difficult transition. Blogs like this have given me hope, and have awakened a new passion for healthy cooking and baking, without having to give up so many of the meals and desserts that I love! It’s also given me a chance to share these recipes with my friends, who usually hear ‘vegan’ or ‘gluten/dairy free’ and run for the hills. Thanks for providing me with the resources to not only eat and feel better in my own life, but extend that to those around me. Truly inspiring.

Mmm, yummy….I love honey mustard dressing (made with real honey of course) but have failed to come up with a recipe of my own. There is a little restaurant in town that I will occasionally stop at for lunch and get a to-go salad. It is full of organic greens, smoked salmon, thinly sliced raw beets, red onions, and their homemade honey mustard dressing. Scrumptious! I’ll give yours a try this week. We’ve got loads of kale and lettuces in our garden too. :)

Mustard? Years ago when I was diagnosed with Celiac Disease, it was recommended that all mustard products be avoided – not because they contain gluten but because some celiacs’ bodies incorrectly recognized it as containing gluten (rather like a cross-sensitivity issue). Has the thought on this issue changed? Thanks.

I think you read my mind-I just did an internet search for Honey Mustard dressing not two days ago! I will definitely be trying yours-usually the simplest ones are the best. Thanks!

A few drops of stevia works great for the sweetener too. That is how I make all of my dressings or marinades. Great for those with yeast issues or diabetes.

Share your garden one day with all of us. You mention it sometimes, and I would love to see it!

This is easy and fast, just a few simple ingredients. Sounds like a winner to me. Another great post recipe Elena. Love honey mustard dressing.

I make something very similar (with honey) but my twist is to add a clove of garlic (I love garlic with EVERYTHING) and a pinch of sea salt and pepper.

I’ve missed Honey mustard dressing sOO much. I’ll make it with Honey instead of agave and it’ll be perfect – thanks Elana!
