DIY Foot Balm

You may notice that some of the ingredients in this foot balm, such as coconut oil and olive oil are food. I was taught during my Ayurvedic training, that the skin is the largest organ of absorption in the human body. Therefore, I make sure that anything I put on my skin is healthy enough for me to eat.

I found the base for this recipe in the February issue of Living Without magazine –their recipe was for a body butter. I changed it quite a bit, adapting various ingredients and adding essential oils. My boys and I enjoy rubbing this on each others feet at bedtime. It also makes a wonderfully thoughtful Christmas gift. Customize with your own “flavors” and enjoy!

  1. So I just made this balm, only to realise, after finishing adding the essential oils, that I forgot to put in the beeswax. Do you think this will be ok? Thanks!

  2. I want to make this in large scale, for sale, and my country here is really hot. Do you have any advice for me? Or possibly an enduring recipe?

    • Ameenah, thanks for your comment. Maybe store it in the fridge? I hope you’ll stop by and LMK what works :-)

  3. Love this simple and effective recipe!! I walk around barefoot a lot, which can be tough on your feet. I put it in my feet at night with a pair of socks and it works great!!
And, it’s stuff I already have on hand. I actually put all my ingrediants in an old Crock-Pot wax melter and let it all melt together, put in the essentials oils (Mountain Rose Herbs has been my go-to for over a decade. Been around a LONG time and started with the Mother of Herbalism, Rosemary Gladster. NOTE: I’ve got a few funky bottles of Auracacia.) and put in jars. Thanks!

  4. Hi, I absolutely love your foot balm. I made it up for myself, but after my daughters and granddaughters tried it they all wanted some. It kept me very busy. Thank you for sharing,
P.S. I also added a little vitamine e oil to mine.

    • Marion, you are such an amazing mother/grandmother and those girls are very lucky to have you!!! Thanks for letting me know you adore the foot balm :-)

  5. Kindly inform the quantity of shea butter in gram rather than cups. I want to make this magic potion but confused.
    Thanks in advance.

    • Melissa, I use any brand that is organic, I’m pretty mellow when it comes to purchasing essential oils :-)
