Book Signing #1

Well, book signing #1 went very well last night here in NYC at Friedman’s.  A steady trickle of people popped in for the lovely little event.

So many thanks go to Kelly from for making the arrangements for the evening.  She is just fabulous!  I also want thank the lovely Vanessa at Friedman’s for inviting us into her gorgeous space.

Kelly from celiac chicks and Bernice from wheatless and meatless

Kelly from on the left, and Bernice from on the right.

It was a lot of fun to see people eating delicious gluten free food during the signing.  People ordered latkes, pastrami sandwiches, meatloaf –all of it gluten free from this wonderfully versatile deli at Chelsea Market.

It was also great fun to finally meet (in person!) the readers and bloggers that I have connected with over the years on the Internet.  I especially enjoyed meeting Bernice (above) from  She had been giving me all kinds of great advice on places to eat here in NYC via twitter and I was so happy to get to thank her in person!

Kelly and Jennifer

Jennifer (a gluten free Waldorf teacher) and Kelly of, at my signing last night.

And finally, thanks to everyone who showed up and asked me to sign their books.  It was an all around wonderful evening and I am so grateful to all who made it possible!

Tonight I’m heading over to Babcock Galleries for another signing there; I’ll keep you posted…

  1. Elana,

It was my pleasure to attend book signing #1 and meet you in person, to spend time with the source of the incredible inspiration that lead to my making your STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE for my birthday breakfast one morning this week! The best birthday cake I’ve ever had!!!
I am telling EVERYONE about your book, gluten-free or not, because most people want to know about low carb alternatives and low glycemic alternatives. Because of this, I think your book will do excellently, as it’s market is really limitless….
I look forward to seeing you at the GF summit this weekend in Hyde Park, NY. For all other readers in the New York area, check out the website for the Gluten Free Culinary Summit East this weekend, and see if you’d like to come. I am so excited to attend, as we all will have so much valuable information, and inspiration, to share.

    All my best,

  2. I am glad that things are going well for you!!! Thank you for shareing your journey with all of us :)

  3. Book Signing #2: Dear Elana, It was such a pleasure to meet you last night – you are even more beautiful in person. I read the cookbook from cover to cover as soon as I got home and have picked out a few recipes to try this weekend at my brother’s kitchen – specifically the chocolate cake – it is my sister-in-law’s birthday on Sunday (and she is diabetic). My brother is considering becoming a vegan so I look forward to more community input on egg substitutes. Again, thank you for a wonderfully entertaining, educational and informative site. Warm wishes to you and yours for continued health and success.

  4. Congratulations Elana! Quel regognition for your great work! I wish you a lot of fun and pleasure on the rest of the trip. Lovely to hear how you’re doing!
    Have a great day, Christianne

  5. So bummed that I can’t make either of the NYC signings. I’m 9 months pregnant and have a really hard time getting around at this point! I’m due tomorrow! We’re loving the book. Thanks so much for it and the blog. A real boon.
