10 Best Keto Recipes of 2017

I’m so happy to share the 10 Best Keto Recipes of 2017 with you! Switching your fuel source from carbs to fat has benefits for just about everyone, and that’s why this diet has been so helpful to me. I started the Keto Diet on June 3, 2014. I remember that date because it changed my life. Eating low-carb, high-fat (LCHF) has helped me live much better with a multiple sclerosis diagnosis.

What is the Keto Diet?

The Ketogenic Diet is the original low-carb diet and is commonly used to treat epilepsy. With this low-carb, high-fat diet, the majority of calories come from fat, while moderate amounts of protein and very low amounts of carbohydrates are consumed. Following a high-fat diet adapts the body to burning fat rather than carbohydrates. Doing so can have tremendous health benefits such as reducing inflammation and much more. Below you will find the top low-carb recipes of 2017 that are perfect for the Ketogenic Diet.

1. Keto Bread

Keto BreadThe first thing people worry about when going on a special diet is giving up bread. That’s why I’ve created this easy, yet amazing Keto Bread recipe for you with only 6 ingredients total. Fans adore this low-carb bread recipe saying, “I love your Keto Bread, it’s just absolutely amazing!” If you’re looking for something on the sweet side, try my Keto Blueberry Lemon Bread!

Fans tell me this sugar-free Cornbread is “amazing…much better and more moist than the ‘real’ thing!”

3. Salt & Pepper Crackers

salt and pepper crackersGoing on a low-carb diet doesn’t mean you have to lose out on foods with a good crunch. My 4-ingredient Salt & Pepper Crackers are perfect for dipping in low-carb sides such as my quick and easy homemade Guacamole.

You can also try these low-carb crackers with my Dairy-Free Ricotta Dip, one of the first nut cheese recipes to be created, I shared it here on the blog in 2009!

4. Roasted Almonds

How to Roast AlmondsBy now y’all know that I love almonds. I wrote the first grain-free cookbook from a major publisher in 2008, called The Gluten-Free Almond Flour Cookbook. So I thought it only appropriate that I share one of my simplest low-carb almond recipes here, and it’s become a hit recipe. This easy recipe is so popular that over 100,00 people used it in 2017 alone! Why roast your own almonds? First, it’s far less expensive than buying them pre-roasted. Second, the taste is out of this world! Almonds are the perfect low-carb snack and in this post called, How to Roast Almonds I teach you how to prepare them to perfection. If you’re looking for something a bit lighter, try my spectacular 5-ingredient Barbecue Kale Chips recipe that uses one of Primal Palate’s incredible organic seasonings.

5. Paleo Crepes

Made with only 5 ingredients total, we like to fill these Paleo Crepes with a bit of Cranberry Cherry Sauce and a ton of Homemade Whipped Cream! Or you can fill the crepes with fresh strawberries and smother them in my Dairy-Free Whipped Cream.

To add more fiber into your diet try my Chocolate Chia Pudding made with only 6 ingredients total.

The Easiest Keto Recipes Ever

These recipes are so simple that the easiest one has 2 ingredients, while the most challenging has only 9 ingredients total. I have a silly question though! Why do magazines and recipe creators say that a dish contains only 4 ingredients when it contains 7? Do salt, pepper, and olive oil not count as ingredients? In my recipes they do.

  1. I am new to your website and recipes. Can you tell me a substitute for “egg white protein powder” as I cannot find it in our small Saskatchewan city? Looking forward to trying your recipes.

    • Diane, I haven’t tried making my recipes without egg white protein powder when called for so not sure what to substitute for that. Feel free to experiment, or if you click the green text in the ingredients portion of the recipe that say “egg white protein powder” you can order it online, that’s what I do :-)

  2. Elana are you really feeling better eating keto? I have celiac and was grain free for years. Then did keto/primal for 2 years and initially I felt better, lost weight, re-set my body. But then I started feeling like all the animal protein was slowing my body down and I was becoming too acidic? I missed fruits and starchy veggies. I was tired of watching my carbs so much, especially with real unprocessed food. So now I’m in the midst of trying to figure out what will work for my body. It seems to me that most cultures in the Blue Zone are more plant based and eat more of a variety of foods. Where are you in your journey?

    • Betty, same here. I “cheat” on my keto diet with some green juices and extra salads and feel really good that way. I don’t eat fruit often (other than berries very infrequently) and I don’t eat starchy veggies :-)

  3. Dear Elana,

I think of you with appreciation often.
