Have you ever wondered how to make lemonade? It seems like such a simple thing. Until you actually try to do it. Making lemonade from scratch is fantastic for a bunch of reasons.
First, it tastes incredible. There’s nothing like freshly squeezed juice from real lemons. Making your own also allows you to avoid the nasty chemicals and preservatives in store bought lemonade. However, the biggest reason I like to make homemade lemonade is to avoid the sugar in the store […]

If you’re as big a fan of my Paleo Chocolate Cupcakes as the Boulder High Freshman Baseball Team, you’ll love them topped with my luscious Peanut Butter Frosting. There’s nothing quite like the classic combination of chocolate and peanut butter. You could even call this grain-free treat a Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup style cupcake.
The best thing though, is that if you’re following a strict Paleo diet, or if you’re allergic to peanuts, you can easily make this Peanut Butter Frosting […]

Fruit juice-sweetened Gummy Bears are ideal as an after-school snack and work just as well for Halloween.
My children were very upset with me last night when they saw I was making gummy bears. Why? I told them they could not eat any as I needed them for a morning photo shoot…for you all. The boys will be happy this afternoon when they get home from school and find this healthy candy ready to eat. These gluten-free gummy bears are the […]

Harness the power of coconut butter, hemp seed, flaxmeal and dried cranberries in this Paleo power bar.
Cranberry Coconut Power Bars are not only gluten-free and grain-free, they are nut-free to boot. Eat them after you go to your CrossFit workout, or if you’re more of a middle aged woman such as myself who prefers sleep to exercise, eat them after a long walk in the foothills, or a restorative yoga class.
I’m using Steve’s unsweetened dried cranberries for this recipe, which […]

Melt-in-your-mouth dark chocolate truffles flavored with bioflavanoid-rich orange zest.
These fantastically healthy dark chocolate truffles are full of antioxidant rich cacao powder and sweetened with honey and just a bit of vanilla stevia, which leaves a lot of room for the other flavors to come through.
Although I experimented and made these truffles with vanilla and raspberry, I ended up loving orange the best. I think orange zest and dark chocolate are a wonderful flavor combination.

Fresh cranberry sauce made with only 4 ingredients, no sugar.
I’ve had cranberry sauce on my mind. So I researched cranberry sauce recipes, and found that most have anywhere from ¼ to 1 ¾ cups of sugar. I like a tart cranberry sauce, one that almost makes my mouth pucker, so I developed this stevia and fruit-sweetened cranberry sauce. While it’s nicely tart, the cherries and orange juice make it quite sweet too.
This is a naturally sweetened lower-glycemic cranberry relish recipe, […]

Filled with freshly ground cinnamon and other antioxidant rich spices, I serve healing Pumpkin Spice Lattes piping hot.
Now you can make your own dairy free Pumpkin Spice Latte with coconut milk instead of cow’s milk. Make this beverage low sugar as well by using honey and stevia in place of refined sugar. I based my recipe on the Pumpkin Spice Latte from recipegirl.com. Lori’s site, gorgeous and hip, is a wonderful source of inspiration.

Homemade and dairy free Peppermint Hot Chocolate to keep you warm and cozy on a cold winter’s night.
Peppermint Hot Chocolate is easy to make, and far better than the instant hot chocolate that comes in a package, which is loaded with sugar and definitely not dairy free. Additionally, I find this soothing and healthy beverage to be a great substitute for all of the peppermint candy floating around this time of year.
I make this dairy free hot chocolate with coconut […]
