I thought y’all might enjoy some Paleo Mini Bagels for the holidays. Yes, I know this is not exactly a traditional holiday treat. However, as of late I’ve been going lower and lower in my carb consumption. I am truly digging the results I’m getting from ditching fruit and dessert and sticking to fat, protein, and vegetables. A low-carb diet seems to agree with my constitution!
So, what’s a low-carb-a-holic to do during the season of desserts? That’s where my gluten-free […]

I have been craving some good, healthy, tasty, gluten-free Bran Muffins for quite some time. Finally, thanks to flaxmania (I’m on a string of flax recipes this week) here it is.
My friend Chris was one of my guinea pigs for this baking endeavor. She took a flax muffin home from my house one day and ate it the next for breakfast. Later, I received a phone call from her requesting this recipe. I take that as a good sign since she […]

We’ve been eating quite a lot of salad lately, and being the protein addict that I am, I’m constantly looking for new ways to make it into a full dinner.
I was first introduced to Chinese Chicken Salad years ago, by my dear friend Helen. We’ve been friends now for close to 30 years and good salad is only one of the many things she has taught me about. My version is a little different from hers, since she’s not gluten […]

These Sesame Cookies are yet another Passover friendly dessert recipe.
I wouldn’t necessarily have thought of making cookies with sesame. Why? Because I am surrounded by several choco-holics and bake primarily to their tastes. Let’s just say that the brownie recipe I posted a few weeks ago is still getting good play around here. My 10 year old son whips up a quick batch of these high-protein brownies almost every weekend.
Thankfully, I received the below a few […]

These Gluten Free Truffles my final installment of the trufflemania series. At least for now.
These super nutritious little bites of sesame sweetness remind me of the halva I used to devour as a child. They’re easy to make, vegan, dairy-free and of course, gluten-free. Don’t let all those labels scare you though, more than anything else, they’re just plain old delicious.
½ cup (raw) cashews
¼ cup tahini (I used roasted, though raw will probably work just as well)
¼ cup agave […]

Highly nutritious gluten free crackers go well with guacamole, goat cheese and olive tapenade.
These gluten free crackers made with high protein almond flour and sesame seeds are a wonderfully crunchy Paleo friendly snack. With this quick and easy cracker recipe you can have homemade crackers in mere minutes. These gluten free crackers are also grain free, full of fiber and therefore very satiating.
Every time my friend Patricia, Pilates Diva extraordinary, comes over she walks out of the house with […]

Gomasio is healthy, tasty and easy enough for a child to make.
One of my favorite gluten free condiments, Gomasio is made of sesame seeds, a healthy food, high in protein and fiber. This nutritious Asian sesame seed condiment is also full of calcium and super tasty.
In the photo above, my older son is stirring up a double batch for the family. Below, we have transferred the seeds to a suribachi and prepare to take turns grinding.
2 cups […]
