Mushroom Masters: Herb Stuffed Mushrooms

Posted on September 26, 2011

I was recently invited to develop an appetizer recipe for the Mushroom Masters, a global competition that helps celebrate National Mushroom Month (September). Since I love mushrooms, and they are so easy to prepare gluten free and Paleo, I jumped at the chance to participate.

For the competition, I created the recipe for these Herb Stuffed Mushrooms –they make a lovely gluten free appetizer for a cocktail party or nice nosh for a gluten free brunch. While this convenient finger food looks […]

Nettles Pesto

A giant stinging nettles bush climbs up the side of the little red barn in my backyard.  Although we’ve been in this house for 9 years, it’s taken me half that time to pay any mind to it.

The bush literally caught up with the boys first; they complained that it “bit” them whenever a 3-way collision of plant, child and a baseball occurred.  Back in those days, with 2 little ones, and always in a rush to clean something, cook […]

When I made this gravy, I roasted a chicken with onions and thyme and used the pan drippings for the recipe below.  I probably only had a couple of tablespoons of drippings, and I actually think this gravy recipe […]

Finally, a gluten free cracker that is egg free as well!  Who do I have to thank for this tasty cracker?  Mark Sisson of Mark’s Daily Apple and author of The Primal Blueprint and The Primal Blueprint Cookbook.  I am a huge fan of Mark and his work.

Book Review: Prescription for Nutritional Healing

This is one of the most important healing tools in my possession. Handy, astute and concise, this excellent guide is geared toward informing and empowering individuals to take charge of their health.

A practical A-Z reference manual, Prescription for Nutritional Healing offers drug-free remedies using vitamins, minerals, herbs and food supplements. When one of us has a cold, it’s the first thing I reach for. This book is no nonsense and a real winner!
