Harness the power of coconut butter, hemp seed, flaxmeal and dried cranberries in this Paleo power bar.
Cranberry Coconut Power Bars are not only gluten-free and grain-free, they are nut-free to boot. Eat them after you go to your CrossFit workout, or if you’re more of a middle aged woman such as myself who prefers sleep to exercise, eat them after a long walk in the foothills, or a restorative yoga class.
I’m using Steve’s unsweetened dried cranberries for this recipe, which […]

Pick some of the fresh basil that’s exploding in your garden for these zesty grain-free herb-flecked cookies.
I based this recipe (and photo) on one from Bon Appetit for Lemon-Lime Basil Shortbread Cookies. As you might expect, these are gluten-free, grain-free, sugar-free, dairy-free cookies. I used the same flavor profile as the Bon Appetit recipe, though decided not to make mine a shortbread cookie.
I’ve used coconut butter as the fat in this cookie recipe, which I learned to do from Jessica […]

Melt-in-your-mouth dark chocolate truffles flavored with bioflavanoid-rich orange zest.
These fantastically healthy dark chocolate truffles are full of antioxidant rich cacao powder and sweetened with honey and just a bit of vanilla stevia, which leaves a lot of room for the other flavors to come through.
Although I experimented and made these truffles with vanilla and raspberry, I ended up loving orange the best. I think orange zest and dark chocolate are a wonderful flavor combination.

Paleo Candy for the holidays? Why yes! Healthy Cranberry Chocolate Truffles are chock full of coconut oil.
This “candy” is a healthy holiday snack or dessert. Made with a coconut oil base, dark chocolate, dried cranberries, and a dash of stevia, these truffles are a lovely little pick-me-up in a sea of holiday junk food.
This gluten-free truffle has a deliciously healthy coconut oil base. It is also a wonderful holiday treat if you or your loved ones have a nut allergy.

Gluten free dairy free Mint Chip Truffles are full of healthy fats to keep your motor running.
These low-carb healthy Mint Chip Truffles are a fantastic Paleo snack. In fact, I love to eat them right after I work out (my workouts, which I do several times per week are long walks, very light weight lifting, Pilates and yoga). However, they’re also the perfect post workout snack for high-intensity athletes such as CrossFitters.
On top of that? They’re a great Paleo dessert […]

A few of my favorite things? Coaching baseball. Growing vegetables. Walking on a sunny day. Hanging with my husband late at night after the boys have gone to bed. Cooking with children –of any age.
Recently I have had the opportunity to teach cooking to my son’s third grade class. This has been great fun. I get a real glimpse of each child and his or her temperament when we cook together –in the […]
