When I recently posted my Accidental Mocha Mousse recipe, Samantha requested this German Chocolate Cake so that she and her mother would not miss out on it during the holidays. I am more than pleased to add it to this blog, as German Chocolate Cake is a classic.
Although my boys are in a finicky stage lately, boycotting most of the things I make (even dessert!) they eagerly wolfed down this sweet, rich chocolaty cake.

We had a super quiet Thanksgiving, which was fine with me. It was just the 4 of us and we ended up making even less food than I had planned. Healthy organic truffles are not only easy to make, they are bursting with flavor in every bite. In addition, these little treats are power packed with nutrients. And on top of that? My family has been devouring them.

This delicious, healthy and somewhat sophisticated treat is not too sweet, making a great candy for adult palates. It may appeal to the younger crowd as well –my 10 year old ate a dozen of these and then packed more in his school lunch.

There was a distinct chill in the air last night which lead me to put on slippers and make a cup of gluten free, dairy free hot chocolate. This quick and easy beverage can be simply made from scratch in a matter of minutes.
¼ cup (raw) cashews
1 cup water (room temperature)

New Year, new school. Wow, this week has been busy. The boys have settled miraculously into their new habitat and I can feel the relief flowing through my body.

We have a big all star game tomorrow, though unfortunately I will be missing it. One of my parents was hospitalized this week so I am flying back to California for a weekend visit.

Baseball is what it’s all about in our house these days. We lost in the main bracket of the post-season tournament and are now playing in the consolation round and doing well. Rich and decadent Rosemary Chocolate Truffles rolled in cocoa powder.
Last night was the conclusion of a “grand” Memorial Day weekend. My parents came in and took the boys down to the Boulder Creek Fest where they all had a blast. This is my all time favorite icing recipe. Lately, I’ve been using this vegan chocolate frosting for cakes, cupcakes, and also as a filling between chocolate wafers. My son loves this double chocolate treat –chocolate wafers with chocolate frosting– packed in his school lunch.
