Low carb gluten free kelp noodles with sesame sauce make the perfect Paleo treat.
Back in the 1990’s, before I was gluten free, I ordered my fair share of sesame noodles from greasy Chinese restaurants. That was when I lived in New York City. Even though it’s been a long time since I’ve eaten in a Chinese restaurant, that hankering for a good gluten free sesame noodle recipe has never gone away, so I’m happy to have created this one after […]

Paleo Breakfast Bread makes a great grain free treat for brunch or a quick breakfast on rushed weekday mornings.
I made this easy gluten free bread recipe on camera last month (which you can view below) for FOX31 and had a blast with host Joana Canals. I was surprised to find myself on TV talking about the Paleo Diet. It seems that this way of eating is gaining mainstream awareness.
That’s why in addition to sharing this bread recipe with you, I’m […]

Have you seen Hallie Klecker’s new book The Pure Kitchen?
This cookbook is a lovely collection of healthy gluten free, dairy free recipes. I absolutely love the “Energizing Breakfasts” section which contains quick and easy smoothie recipes full of superfoods; the book also contains wonderful recipes such as Spring Pesto Drizzle, which is packed with healthy greens.
I had the pleasure of meeting Hallie at a conference last year, and can assure you she is every bit as lovely in person […]

Summer is definitely here and our house is the place to be. The neighborhood boys congregate on our trampoline –with the sprinklers aimed at it for a good cool down and a great deal of healthy fun.
With all of this activity I keep the food flowing morning, noon and night. From the time they arrive until dinner (sometimes a bunch of them stay for the evening meal too) I am setting out munchies –snacks, lunch, etc. They really are a […]

The recipe for this gluten-free Cinnamon Apple Cake comes from one of my favorite bloggers, AndreAnna “The Primal Matriarch” and her food blog, Life as a Plate. I adapted my version of her recipe, Apple Spice Bread, eliminating the step of pre-cooking the apples, adding a ton of cinnamon, and making a couple other changes as well.
I think that you’ll be delighted whether you go for her original recipe or my interpretation of it below. By the way, this is […]

A healthier version of the classic peanut butter cup, homemade nut butter cups or balls make the perfect chocolate candy.
When I posted the recipe for Vanilla Almond Butter I had planned on sharing my Nut Butter Cup recipe with you shortly thereafter. My children however, hijacked the Nut Butter Cups the night I tried to make them (with exact measurements for you all, of course). They hacked my project, dumping loads of chocolate chips into the pot (for melting) […]

My boys and I love eating this sauce over fish and chicken. It’s also great on top of salads. Now that we’re settled back in after a wild weekend that took us straight from Blogher into Yom Kippur, I will be making this to serve with our dinner tonight. I’ll serve it over salmon and greens and I know that the boys will lap it up, as they always do.
Tangy Peanut Sauce
½ cup creamy peanut butter or creamy roasted almond […]

Easy Gluten Free Brownies made with heart healthy almond butter; packed with wholesome and nutritious ingredients.
One of my favorite readers, Courtney, requested this brownie recipe in a comment last week.
Here is what she said, “Can we have another VOTE?? Every post I am hopeful that I might open it up to find your recipe for scrumptious dark chocolate brownies… I am NEVER disappointed by your posts, but I am still hopeful that I may experience this recipe in the […]

Baseball is what it’s all about in our house these days. We lost in the main bracket of the post-season tournament and are now playing in the consolation round and doing well. We were winning our game yesterday against the Red Socks and had the game postponed due to rain in the bottom of the 3rd inning when we were ahead 3-0. The boys were playing well and devouring the snacks that I brought to keep them full […]

Kelly over at Celiac Chicks does a fabulous job covering the latest in gluten-free news. On top of that, she is a lovely person. It has been great getting to know her through our email conversations these past few months.
I recently spent some time looking through the recipe section of Kelly’s site and was most intrigued by these delicious looking peanut butter bars. She traces the original recipe back to one from 2003 in Family Circle magazine. Of course, she […]

For the past few months, I have been playing around with power bar recipes. When I’m on the go, I want to grab something that is packed with nutrition, not too sweet and plenty tasty.
I’ve made this power bar recipe a bunch of times now and my taste testers (that would be my husband who is a very direct and rather stringent critic) have given it their official seal of approval (that would be eating an entire tray in two […]
