Rosh Hashanah Menu

We had a great Labor Day weekend with lots of festivities.  In fact, my older son turned 12 during the weekend and we celebrated in various ways with lots of his friends.  It was an absolutely delightful time.

Now, though, it’s a bit of a zany week; a 2 day work week, given that Monday was a holiday and that Rosh Hashanah begins Wednesday evening at sundown.  We will be in synagogue Thursday and Friday, so there is an extra lot to get done today and tomorrow.

Part of what I’m doing is planning my Rosh Hashanah menu (see below); then of course there’s the cooking, which I love.  We will be having our friends Ron and Tova (and their girls) over for the holiday which will be a lot of fun.

    I live in Seattle where being “green” is very important; our city does compost pick ups, many coffee shops use compostable cups and straws, and many are beginning to raise their child “green”. I know many children here know the difference between the trash can, the recycle can, and the compost can. This book would be a great gift for a family I have nannied for the in the past who I am still quite close with. They have a two year old son and have a baby boy due in November. I know their mom would use this book all the time. :) Thanks Elana!

    What am I doing up so-o-o- very late? Cooking for the Chag (holiday) of course.Since almost everyone loves all the wonderful recipes I have prepared from your site; the squash Latkes,last weeks Peach Crisp, Biscotti,Fish Sticks and on and on I can’t go wrong once again.What is even nice was my long time friend (since we were in Brownies)had no idea that ALL my cooking when she came for a visit, is GLUTEN FREE!!

    I work with a new mom who has reached out to me for some baby feeding ideas. I am a “older mom” with older children! I love giving her tips that I used when my children were younger. She is so appreciative and has implemented many of the techniques I used. I made all my own baby food.

    I would love to give her Dr. Greene’s book as a gift knowing that it would help it boost her confidence in feeding her new little girl.

    You always have such great meal plans- which is SO helpful! I love your kale tart recipe & I think I need to make the cauliflower rice recipe. I made the peach crisp recipe this Labor Day & it met RAVE reviews :) Like others, I would love the Feeding Baby Green as I’m just about to have my first baby & this will complement my Raising Baby Green book very well.

    Hello I am expecting in just under 3 weeks! It will be my second baby as I have a two year old daughter named Shya! When she was a baby I made all her own baby food and when a time came where we had to buy a bottle of baby food (traveling) she wasn’t having any of it! I was a proud mother who thought look at my baby girl she already doesn’t like all that processed junk! Shya and I love your book and some of our favorites is the date pecan muffins and chocolate scones( Shya loves to make those because she gets all the chocolate chips that don’t make it into the bowl! Although I can’t wait to try that pecan pie…just have to find some agar flakes! I would love to win Dr. Green’s book in fact I am on my way to check out his website now! My twin sister has a 3 month old so this could be helping two little ones at the same time. Thanks!

    The only website I trust for my cooking and baking is this one! For my daughter’s 1st birthday party in July, I made the german chocolate cake, and quadrupled the recipe, and it was a huge, AMAZING cake, surrounded by your white cupcakes!
    I have been the biggest fan of all your recipes – I give all my friends the URL cause I have had such success with all the fun varieties of food. I would love to get this cookbook cause if you recommend it, it must be good!!!!!!!!!!!!
    And my baby girl LOVES to eat! She is a natural foodie, and proud of it :)

    I would love a copy of this book! My husband and I are trying for our first baby and are eager to share our way of eating with our family. It’s a hard sell to the exteneded family since grains are so ingrained (ha!) in society. Regardless, I look forward to a healthy grain free, gluten free and green baby!

    elana, i love your site! i visit it frequently for recipes. i am not gluten free, but i am low carb (atkins). it is easy to alter the recipes to fit my sugar free needs and they are delish! i love that you use almond flour!!!
