Coconut water is often used as a sports drink to help replenish the body’s electrolyte balance after exercise or illness. I keep a hefty supply of coconut water on hand for my boys. I myself prefer to drink fermented coconut water (I purchase Kevita), a sparkling probiotic rich fermented beverage. Fermented coconut water is lower in sugar and carbohydrates than regular (unfermented) coconut water.
I often purchase fresh young coconuts at the grocery store, and hack them open for my boys, who crave fresh coconut water and fresh coconut meat.
