Spicy ginger and tart lime team up to make a mean mocktail.
I don’t drink alcohol, however, I absolutely love fun, girly drinks in fancy glasses. Hence, this deliciously refreshing, non-alcoholic beverage that I am calling a Ginger Lime Mocktail. I think you could also call this sparkling zesty drink liquid superfood. The ginger is full of anti-oxidants, good for digestion and is also anti-viral and anti-fungal. With March approaching, I’m starting to think about the possibility of a spring detox and one of my favorite healing roots –dandelion. Dandelion is a fantastic liver cleanser and spring is the perfect season for liver support.

We had a huge snowstorm here last night and I made my family a batch of this warming Mexican Hot Chocolate. A hot drink is perfect for a cold day, and it’s even better when warming spices such as cinnamon, chili and cayenne are added.

This dark green, luscious shake is my go to drink when I need a little protein pick me up.
To me, the flavor of the kale is not that pronounced, what comes through is the creamy richness of the protein powder with the tart sweetness of the orange, thereby forming a yummy gluten-free, dairy-free creamsicle experience in a glass. Enjoy!

I’m loving this gluten free, dairy free Strawberry Lime Shake made of fresh homemade coconut milk. My boys love it too. I hadn’t thought of making coconut milk from shredded coconut until I read Sarma Melngailis’ book Living Raw Food. I cannot recommend this book highly enough. Sarma has great recipes and tons of fabulous information for everyone –you don’t have to be raw to enjoy this book.

The idea for this green smoothie comes from the amazing Sarma of oneluckyduck.com. I recently purchased her book Living Raw Food and am loving it. While some of the recipes can be complex, she has many that can be made in minutes.

Many apple cider recipes have sugar added to them and are overly sweet, for my taste. This Homemade Hot Apple Cider recipe however goes in the other direction, I add water to it to dilute the natural sweetness of the apple juice. This also stretches the amount, making the recipe more economical.
I made this the other day during the super chilly weather and with it’s warming spices (cinnamon and cloves) it hit the spot.

I can’t count the number of times I’ve been asked for a vegan eggnog recipe. This gluten free, dairy free (egg free) eggnog is not too challenging to make and full of filling rich yumminess.
Unlike other eggnogs, it’s not too sweet and has a nice delicate nutmeg flavor. If you want to decrease the sweetness further, go with only 1 tablespoon of agave in the recipe below, or eliminate it entirely. You’ll still have the natural sweetness of the almonds […]

Although I don’t drink alcohol, I do enjoy indulging in a sparkling beverage at festive events.
This little fruit based treat below is perfect for adults and children on special occasions. My boys love it, as do I. Here, I use pineapple juice, though feel free to use any juice of your choice and garnish with your favorite citrus or other fruits.
