Spicy ginger and tart lime team up to make a mean mocktail.
I don’t drink alcohol, however, I absolutely love fun, girly drinks in fancy glasses. Hence, this deliciously refreshing, non-alcoholic beverage that I am calling a Ginger Lime Mocktail. I think you could also call this sparkling zesty drink liquid superfood. The ginger is full of anti-oxidants, good for digestion and is also anti-viral and anti-fungal. The lime juice is packed with Vitamin C and bioflavanoids.
Today was our first beautiful […]

The fabulously savvy Kim Maes over at Cook It Allergy Free has developed a fantastic allergen free iPhone/iPad app and today I’m happy to be giving it away to two lucky winners!
Now, I may not be the most technologically advanced person in the world, though thankfully, my children are. One day, my younger son pulled up this amazing app and started flipping through it; then he decided we needed to make the Apple Walnut Pancakes, which by the way were […]

When I was a child I loved crackers. Still do. I especially loved Wheat Thins. Can’t have those anymore. Solution? I’ve made my own. These tasty Wheat Thins remind me of the yummy little crackers in the yellow package of my childhood. The ones my mother bought for parties. The ones that weren’t gluten free.
That was back in the days before we knew about celiac disease and gluten free living. Before my mother was diagnosed with celiac. Before I was […]

A giant stinging nettles bush climbs up the side of the little red barn in my backyard. Although we’ve been in this house for 9 years, it’s taken me half that time to pay any mind to it.
The bush literally caught up with the boys first; they complained that it “bit” them whenever a 3-way collision of plant, child and a baseball occurred. Back in those days, with 2 little ones, and always in a rush to clean something, cook […]

I’ve been a huge fan of AIicia Silverstone since I first saw her in the teen flick Clueless many years ago. So I was tickled last fall when she featured my Vegan Herb Crackers recipe on her food blog The Kind Life.
Although Silverstone and I do food differently (she is a devoted vegan, I follow a modified Paleo eating plan); I am quite an admirer of how she has used her celebrity to promote social causes. […]

Can’t get your family to eat their greens? Try this healthy, gluten free, soy free, Garlic Ginger Bok Choy recipe. This Asian veggie dish is delicious paired with the Sesame Salmon Burger recipe I posted last week.
This recipe is actually based on a recipe I found in Fine Cooking Magazine called Stir-Fried Bok Choy with Garlic, Ginger, and Scallions by Susie Middleton. I changed mine up a bit, eliminating the corn starch and chicken stock from it. I hope you […]

I originally posted this date sweetened, gluten free muffin recipe the year before last in my Great Agave Debate post. Because it was part of something so much bigger, it kinda got lost in the mix. I’m re-posting it because I think it’s an easy, super tasty, healthy recipe that will please both agave lovers and haters alike.
For more information on agave, please check out my Great Agave Debate post and all of the amazing reader comments and debate […]

These high protein Sesame Salmon Burgers pair nicely with Garlic Ginger Bok Choy.
I really like making these quick and easy gluten free burgers because they not only consist of highly nutritious wild salmon (obviously), they’re also packed with superfoods such as garlic, ginger and sesame seeds. Sometimes I like to prepare the salmon mixture ahead of time (think the night before, so that the flavors can meld into the salmon and intensify) and then cook the patties in a skillet […]

Way back when, in 1997, during the dark ages of gluten free, I was diagnosed with celiac disease. Now, 14 years later, this disease has had a devastating effect on my family –my mother has celiac, my sister has it, even my 12 year old son was diagnosed with celiac when he was 3 years old. On the other side of the family, my mother-in-law lives with celiac disease. This disease has been a scourge on my loved ones.
Celiac is […]
