Tonight is the Oscars and we’re having a nice little party over here (as usual). I’ll be serving this super quick and easy gluten free Mushroom Soup in little shot glasses. As you can probably tell by now, pretty much any event is an excuse for me to have people over and cook healthy gluten free food.
I frankly could not really care who wins what awards tonight. I just like to hang with my posse and have good eats. In […]

Happy Birthday Dad! These gluten free cupcake bites are all the rage right now, very popular. And since you’re celebrating a big birthday, I thought I would make up a batch in your honor. With love, here are some delicious, mostly healthy, gluten free cupcake bites for you!
Dad, I warn you, these are not easy to make, so don’t try this at home! Maybe Mom can make some for you to tide you over until I get there for the […]

With March approaching, I’m starting to think about the possibility of a spring detox and one of my favorite healing roots –dandelion. Dandelion is a fantastic liver cleanser and spring is the perfect season for liver support.
According to Ayurveda and Chinese medicine, dandelion root has bitter, sweet and cooling properties, making it optimal for the pitta dosha.
Although I use various parts of the dandelion for healing, here, I’m focusing on the root which is a good blood purifying herb. […]

In my opinion nature’s bounty of beautiful, nutritious vegetables is completely underrated. And beets are a perfect example of this. They brighten up any meal with their gorgeous earthy reddish-purple color and are highly nutritious to boot.
We eat beets in my house about once a week (our fave veggies are kale and broccoli, not a day goes by without those brassicas at our table, in fact tonight we’re having both, along with this grilled lemon chicken dish). So, back to […]

Looking for a quick and easy gluten free chocolate cake? This one is so simple that you can make it one pot and it doesn’t need a drop of frosting. I’m hooked on this thick, fudgey, yet cakey treat. I made it a couple of weeks ago during our Super Bowl party and it was gobbled up in mere minutes by our boisterous gang of guests.
If you are not in the mood for white chocolate, or wish to make a […]

It seems like everyone I know had a sore throat last week. So I made a big pot of my favorite healing brew, Ginger Licorice Tea.
As I often do, I went on twitter, this time to chat about my fave tea for colds and sore throats. While everyone was familiar with ginger, several folks told me they hadn’t ever heard of licorice root. So here we go, I’ll tell you all about licorice root […]

The recipe for these gluten free crackers comes from my friend Betsy
Don’t be confused by these gluten free Multi “Grain” Crackers. Because they are in fact gluten free and grain-free. That’s right, these crackers don’t contain grains. What are they made of? They contain a multitude of high protein, high fiber superfoods including almonds, flax and hemp.
So as you can see, even though these are called Multi “Grain” Crackers, I have not started eating grains again. And yes, I’ve been […]

Here’s some gluten free Valentine’s Day desserts and treats for y’all.
I’m not a big Valentine’s day person, more of the practical type, so I don’t have a lot to say about, well, you know. What I can tell you is that you might fall in love with one of the desserts below. These gluten free recipes are made with wonderfully satisfying ingredients such as anti-oxidant rich dark chocolate, high protein almond flour and fiber rich coconut flour. There really is […]

Once again, it’s all Joy the Baker’s fault. This scone obsession of mine. When I saw those cute little hand cut squares of Orange Chocolate Buttermilk Scones on her blog, joythebaker.com, I knew I had to make them mine. And I did. And then some.
So, here’s the latest in my scone series, gluten free Cranberry Orange Scones. As you can see, there is a strange “orangeness” on the top of my scones. That’s because I had a little extra zest […]

All of you regular readers know that I have an obsession with making healthy (ok, “healthier”) gluten free cake pops. Well, this obsession continues for Valentine’s Day.
I spent an afternoon in my kitchen last week in total chocolate chaos. I even tweeted about it (if you’re not involved in the party that’s over on twitter you may want to join, I’m there several times daily, tweeting away). On twitter I stated, or shall I say, tweeted, “my kitchen is covered […]
